About the artist
Alain Pérez is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, composer and arranger with deep roots in Cuban tradition – and a global outlook. He has played with Iraqis, Issac Delgado, Celia Cruz, and was Paco de Lucía’s bassist for close to two decades. Four Latin Grammy nominations and a winning title for Tribute to the Aragón Orchestra (2021) confirm his status as one of the most influential voices in contemporary Cuban music.
Dj Avana
To ensure that the dance floor at Riksscenen is kept warm throughout the evening, we will be visited by DJ Avana (Cu) from Gothenburg. He plays both before and after the concert.
As a young boy, Erick Fernandez, aka DJ Avana, woke up every morning to music by the famous Beny Moré thanks to his grandfather, who was Benys’ tailor, and he had a close relationship with this amazing artist. Sitting on the roof with friends and trying to pick up radio signals with music from the USA with a steel hanger was a struggle, but worth it. Although the signals were not the best, it was very important for Erick to keep up to date with new music And so it has continued into his adult life outside Cuba. In Sweden, DJ Avana is an event organizer in addition to working as a DJ. He has played at all the important congresses in the country, and also at the SalsaNor Rueda Congress.
