Join us on a musical journey to Cuba when Suena Cuba fills Holmlia Kulturhavn with son, salsa, bolero and other Cuban rhythms. Together with SalsaNor, you are invited to a whole evening of live music, salsa, DJ and dancing.

The ensemble Suena Cuba consists of experienced musicians with deep roots in the Cuban music tradition. Here, rhythmic complexity, melodic warmth and close interaction meet in a repertoire that draws inspiration from Cuba’s rich musical heritage.

This will be a concert for both connoisseurs of Cuban music and for those who just want to experience good live music and a warm dance floor.

Suena Cuba – line-up

Yusvier “Mantecao” Iznaga – vocals
Mantecao is a former vocalist in the legendary Cuban orchestra Adalberto Álvarez y su Son, and an experienced sonero with a strong expression rooted in traditional Cuban music.

Lino Lores – tres, guitar and choir
Cuban multi-instrumentalist Lino Lores has throughout a long international career collaborated and toured with artists such as Orishas, Silvio Rodríguez, Pablo Milanés, Omara Portuondo, Eliades Ochoa, Pancho Amat and Chucho Valdés. He is also a highly acclaimed arranger and has worked on releases that have received several Grammy nominations.

Eduardo Cedeño – percussion and choir

Ruben Pirela – percussion

Together, the quartet creates a vibrant soundscape that takes the audience straight into Cuba’s vibrant music scene.

Salsa before the

concert The evening starts already at 18:00 with an hour’s salsa course with Carina Bergh.

The course is suitable for those who want to learn some basic salsa steps or just warm up before the concert. You can come with or without a partner.

Carina also holds free salsa courses at Holmlia throughout the autumn.

DJ Mojito

Before and after the concert, DJ Mojito makes sure that the dance floor keeps the temperature up with danceable rhythms from Cuba and Latin America.

Expect salsa, son, bachata, cha cha cha and other rhythms that fit perfectly between and after the live sets.
