Cuban rumba adds Afro-Cuban movements into our dance, and the rumba steps in different variations are very often used in improvisation in salsa, both alone and with a partner. There are 4 types of Cuban rumba: Yambú, Guaguancó, Columbia, and Jirivilla. In this 8-week course, you will learn the first two, with the main focus on the Guaguancó, which is thevariant that is danced in pairs and which is the most common rumba form. Our Cuban dance instructor Yalena will carefully go through the steps and dance technique the first course evenings, and then we will use the repertoire we have learned in the couple dance.
