This is a complete basic course in Cuban salsa. It is an advantage to have taken the introductory course first, but not a requirement. In the course, experienced and patient instructors go through all the necessary steps and figures at a basic level. The course is also suitable for those who may already dance a little salsa or have taken a basic course in salsa before.During the course, we become confident in the salsa rhythm, in the different basic steps and learn the most central salsa variations in pairs. In addition to learning new characters, we are constantly concerned that everyone should feel that they have mastered the dance, and focus on how we in the dance should lead the partner clearly, and how the partner should be led.We use these modules as a starting point in this course.After this course, you can move on to the advanced level if the content of this course feels easy and you have mastered it well enough to use it on the social dance floor. We often recommend taking the basic course several times, and not moving on to the next level until you feel confident with all the syllabus from the basic course. The very best dancers are those who lay a solid foundation at the start!After the basic course, you are also ready to start Rueda de Casino; Cuban salsa as a ring dance.

This course is suitable for those who have laid a good foundation in salsa, i.e. have good control of the salsa rhythm and timing, and can dance basic salsa figures from 'Salsa a little advanced' in a good way. We recommend that you as a minimum have good control of these characters when starting at this level: dile que no, dile que si, guapea, enchufla, enchufla doble. We continue with these modules in this course.You dance at 'Intermediate level 1' for several rounds until you have learned all the figures that belong to this level and are ready to move on to 'Intermediate level 2'.

This course builds on Salsa practiced 1. The instructor does not repeat the repertoire from the previous course, but assumes that you as a participant are confident in the trips from the "practice", and can use these on the social dance floor. At "practiced" you continue with figures from the modules that have not been covered in "practiced 1", and which require a slightly higher level.You dance at an advanced level for several rounds until you have learned all the figures that belong to this level and are ready to move on to the next level, which is intermediate.

Useful solo lesson (not couple dancing) for anyone who wants to learn and develop in Dominican Bachata. First of all, you will learn all the basic steps and become confident in the bachata rhythm. Furthermore, the course will contain many fun and useful step combinations, breaks and playing with the music, which you can use both when dancing alone and for improvisation in the couple dance.A great fun class to take in combination with one of the salsa or rueda de casino classes for nice variety.It is an open level, but basic knowledge in bachata is an advantage.It pays to sign up for all 8 weeks, but if you only have the opportunity to join a few of the times, it is possible with Drop-In for kr. 250 at a time. OUR NEW, CUBAN INSTRUCTOR, Yalena Figueroa, offers an exciting course for all 'ladies'. The starting point is Cuban salsa, but in the classes she will introduce both Afro-Cuban movements and various steps and movements from other Cuban popular dances. Such courses are super useful for self-development in dance, and help you become a better and safer salsa dancer.It is an advantage if you have a basic level in Cuban salsa from before, but otherwise the course is at an open level and suitable for everyone.

The two most important dances to learn for anyone who dances Cuban are son and rumba.Son is said to be the 'mother of salsa' and mastering these steps and being able to switch between beat and counter-beat, is really 'next level' and a lot of fun! It will also give a whole new experience of the salsa.Cuban rumba gives us some of the Afro-Cuban movements into our dance, and the rumba steps in different variants are very often used in improvisation in salsa, both alone and with a partner.In this 8-week course, you will alternately learn both son and rumba from our Cuban dance instructor. A varied and exciting course to take alone, or in combination with one of our other courses in the plan. Son and Rumba are both couple dancers, and we will therefore spend time both learning steps individually, as well as dancing together in pairs.

This is registration for Salsa Upper Intermediate level, which builds on Salsa Intermediate, or is for you who are an experienced dancer in Cuban salsa. To start this course, you must be confident in the content at the intermediate level (intermediate 1 and intermediate 2). It is not planned that the instructor has to repeat the figures from the advanced level.

Rueda Intermediate 2 is the continuation of Rueda Intermediate 1, and is suitable for those who have gained a good grasp of all vocations and figures at Intermediate 1. We think it is important to emphasize that you are not necessarily trained at a level after a course round. It is common to dance at an advanced level for a while before you are ready to be able to follow a rueda course at the advanced level.It is important for your enjoyment of dancing that you master the callings of a level before moving on up to the next level. It is also in this way that we become good rueda dancers! :) Welcome to the course and to experience lots of dancing joy!

Rueda Upper Intermediate - Switch

Are you ready to take Rueda to the next level? In this course round, in addition to dancing new and old Rueda figures, we will explore the different structures within Rueda Switch – an intense and playful form where you and your dance partner switch between leader and follower during the dance.

Who is the course suitable for?

This course is for you who:

• Has good experience with Cuban salsa/casino and rueda.
• Has danced both leader and follower before – and masters basic rueda tours such as guapea, dile que no, dame una, enchufla and dame una arriba in both roles.
• Thrives on fast transitions and complex structures in Rueda.

You don't need to know Rueda Switch before – we'll learn that in the course – but you do need to have experience dancing basic characters in both roles.NB!! Don't have this experience yet? Then you can sign up for SalsaNor's intro course on Sunday 17 August at 16:00 in the opposite role of the one you usually dance. In this way, you can be prepared for what we will go through in the course.

Expectations and progression

The pace is fast, and you are expected to:

1. Manages to learn new things relatively quickly.
2. Able to keep pace in the ring and fix "mistakes" quickly
3. Practice a little on my own between course evenings.
4. Is present every week – to keep the progression and group dynamics going.

There will always be some absences – in that case, let us know in the closed group SalsaNor Oslo – course participants (closed).
