SalsaNor was the first non-profit organization in Norway with the purpose of spreading the music and dance Salsa, established in 1999. But just as Salsa means sauce composed of ingredients, SalsaNor also works to promote many more Latin American and Afro-Caribbean genres. Today, SalsaNor can look back on 20 years of operation, and is currently established with local associations in Trondheim and Oslo, in addition to running a number of national and international projects.

Some of the projects SalsaNor is working on in addition to local dance school operations in Oslo and Trondheim, are:

  • The video channel Rueda.Casino on Vimeo – a dynamic video channel with instructional videos for salsa and the ring dance Rueda de Casino

  • SalsaNor Rueda Congress – annual, international professional gathering for Rueda de Casino since 2002, with about 350 participants from over 20 different countries. Web: ruedacongress.com

  • Wadf Rueda de Casino World Championship – SalsaNor is together with the international dance organization World Art Dance Federation hosting the World Championship in the Cuban ring dance Rueda de Casino. Held every other year. Web: ruedaworldchamp.com

  • Oslo Caribbean Feeling – annual, national dance festival with concerts, dance workshops and exhibitions in various Latin American and Afro-Caribbean genres. Web: oslocaribbean.com

  • Latinweekend – regional dance festival in Trondheim with emphasis on salsa, which is held every other year. Web: latinweekend.no

  • SalsaNor to Cuba – 15 days dance holiday in Cuba during Easter. Since 2005. Room for 20 participants each year. Web: cuba.salsanor.com

  • SalsaNor Ung – music and dance offers for children and young people in the form of after-school courses, dance camps during school holidays, interaction seminars and weekend workshops. Web: ung.salsanor.no

  • In addition, SalsaNor organizes a number of concerts with both local and international orchestras throughout the year, and also initiates various pop-up events for social dance, DJ courses, etc.
